Our History

The Electrophysiology Research Foundation is a charitable organization incorporated on August 2, 1982, organized and operated exclusively for charitable purposes.

The Foundation has engaged in electrophysiological research for more than four decades, conducting research studies in cardiac pharmacology, cardiac electrophysiology, arrhythmia ablation, implantable pacemakers, and implantable cardioverter-defibrillators. It conducts and coordinates multicenter clinical trials and basic research in cardiac electrophysiology and cardiac pacing.

Grantors have included the National Institutes of Health, the American Heart Association, and private corporations in the field. The Foundation has sponsored trainees from Asia, Europe, and North America for research and advanced training in cardiac electrophysiology, many of whom returned to their countries to establish electrophysiology programs. It has cooperative projects, including Twin Center Research Projects with institutions in New Delhi, India.
