The History of The Foundation

The Foundation has engaged in electrophysiological research for twenty years. It has been responsible for conducting research studies in the field of cardiac pharmacology, cardiac electrophysiology, arrhythmia ablation, implantable pacemakers, and implantable cardioverter-defibrillators. It conducts and coordinates multicenter clinical trials, and basic research in cardiac electrophysiology and cardiac pacing. Grantors to the Foundation have ranged from the National Institutes of Health, other non-profit organizations, such as the American Heart Association, and private corporations engaged in research in this field. The Foundation has sponsored trainees from Asia, Europe, and North America for the conduct of research and for advanced training in cardiac electrophysiology. Many of these trainees have returned to their countries of origin to establish electrophysiology programs. It has cooperative projects, and currently operates Twin Center Research Projects with three institutions in New Delhi, India.
